Baked Clams Recipe

This baked clams recipe has been a family favorite for many years. Packed with lots of flavor, this appetizer is a great way to start off any seafood meal.

Writing about clams reminds me of summers when I was a kid, digging for clams out in the Great South Bay with my brother. Bringing some home to Mamma and having her prepare them. She'd invite everybody to help us eat them. So much fun!

Great for parties and holiday gatherings, your family and friends will just love them. Serve them hot from the oven and see how long they will last. Better have another batch ready to go!

For as long as I can remember, they have been served at our Christmas Eve dinners and have been a part of our traditional Italian seafood feast.

Give this delicious recipe a try. I bet you can’t eat just one!

Enjoy!

Ingredients:

2-3 cans of chopped clams 6.5 oz.

1 cup of plain bread crumbs

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1/2 teaspoon of pepper

7 garlic cloves chopped

1/4 cup of dry parsley

1 cup of grated parmesan cheese

1 cup of oil (canola or vegetable)

clam juice 8 oz. bottle

1 small package bacon

Preparation:

You will need aluminum clam shells (which you can bye at any fish store). They usually come in a package of 24.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In medium bowl, mix all together the chopped clams, bread crumbs, salt and pepper, garlic, parsley, grated parmesan cheese and oil.

Fold mixture on to each clam shell, sprinkle clam juice over each one, then put 1/4 slice of bacon over each clam. Bake for about 10-15 minutes or until golden brown and bacon looks done.
